After the success of the inaugural competition last year, Ruddington’s representative in Parliament has launched her “Best Local Shop Awards 2021”.
The initiative, from Rushcliffe MP Ruth Edwards, aims to highlights small, independent and local shops in her constituency, and what makes them special – whether it be their entrepreneurial spirit, their innovation, or their impact on the local community. Last year, there were over 400 nominations, with Ruddington’s ‘The Bottle Top’ (Ruth is pictured top with co-owner Anthony Preston) being one of the two runners-up. In 2020 ‘The Good Weigh’, a zero-waste store in Lady Bay won the top prize and ‘The Little Boutique’ in Keyworth was the other runner-up.
This time, with YOUR help, it’s hoped The Bottle Top (or one of our other Ruddington traders) can go one better! You can nominate any High Street retailer so long as it is located in Rushcliffe and is an independent shop. The winner will be the shop that receives the most nominations and will be announced on ‘Small Business Saturday‘ this December.
“I am very pleased to be launching my Best Local Shop Awards for the second year” says Ruth. “This is a great opportunity for people across Rushcliffe to back their best local, independent shops and highlight the fantastic work they’ve been doing. I want to highlight them and show how grateful we are to have them in our communities, so please do nominate the shop you think deserves to take home first place!”
The winner will be the shop with the most nominations, and Ruth will be announcing the winner and runners-up on Saturday December 4th 2021.
Meantime, please get voting for your favourite Ruddington shop – by nominating them online >>HERE<<.
